What will I be making?
You will have the opportunity to create two pairs of earrings and three necklace pendants inspired by the sea. Think calming tones of blue combined with shimmering sparkles and tiny bubbles! Please see the photos below showing examples of the jewellery you will be making.
Suzanne will demonstrate glass cutting and imaginative, creative effects using a variety of specialist art glass. Please note, for health and safety reasons, glass cutting by participants is not included this workshop. All glass is cut to size and prepared for you in advance of your creative workshop.
What does the price include?
· All specialist art glass. All other materials including silver metal flakes and shimmering, silver mica. All art glass is accurately cut and prepared for you in advance ready for you to assemble in your creative workshop.
· Your own set of tools to use during the workshop.
· Your glass creations being transported to Suzanne’s studio where they will be heated / fused in a specialist kiln for over 24 hours.
· Your fired pieces of glass (cabochons) carefully wrapped and parcelled in sustainable packaging.
· Your parcel will contain a selection of silver plated earring wires and pendant loops / bails. It will be necessary for you to glue these to your glass at home. Necklace chains are not included in the price of the workshop.
· Your parcel of fused glass posted to your chosen UK address via First Class Royal Mail.
Does it matter if I’m a complete beginner?
This creative workshop is perfect for beginners as no glass cutting is involved. Previous art / craft experience isn’t necessary as Suzanne will guide you step by step and give individual support. This creative workshop is ideal for those who enjoy arts and crafts and would like a gentle introduction to the world of fused glass jewellery making.
Suzanne has taught specialist art courses for over thirty years and understands the importance of instilling confidence, where necessary.
With a maximum of 8 participants you can be assured of individual tuition within a small group.
How will my assembled glass be heated / fused in the kiln?
After your creative workshop, Suzanne will take your glass from London to her countryside studio in Norfolk. At Seabird Studio your glass will be carefully fired in a specialist kiln. The firing process, taking over 24 hours, accurately heats your glass to high temperatures and cools it to fuse (join) the pieces together.
As it will not be possible for you to take your glass home on the day you will receive full instructions on how to attach jewellery findings (pendant bails / loops and earring wires) to complete your glass jewellery at home. Silver plated jewellery findings are included in the price of your creative workshop.
After your glass has been kiln fired Suzanne will carefully wrap your creations in pretty, branded, sustainable packaging and post your glass on to you. Parcels are delivered by Royal Mail First Class. This service is included in the price of your creative workshop.
